When Rains Come….

I want to remind you of a great resource for walking when the rains start to fall – or other inclement weather comes your way. In St. Louis, Fall brings rains first. Then, strong, icy wind and all the other winter weather which makes me want to remain indoors. Since Covid-19 has made malls pretty much off limits to me, I need another option. That’s when I remembered Leslie Sansone!

Remember VCR’s and DVD’s? Back in the mists of ancient media, I had Leslie Sansone’s walks on those formats. I was pretty much heartbroken when I no longer had a working VCR and had to figure out how to get a DVD to work – and I only had one of her walks on a DVD.

Now, if you look her up on youtube.com, you’ll find a slew of walks and a few other workouts led by Leslie! You can start with her one mile which is a very easy 15-20 minute ‘walk in place’. It’s really great for a beginner. You don’t need much space and only a comfy pair of shoes.

Then work you way up to her five mile walk which incorporates upper body muscles. You always work at the level that’s comfortable for you so that if you want to walk five miles but you don’t want to do the upper body, you don’t do the upper body. If you don’t want to do the kicks or the side steps, you just walk instead. She makes it incredibly easy to follow along and keep the pace.

If you haven’t tried one of Leslie’s walks, please do. No, this is not a paid endorsement. She’s never heard of me, as far as I know. I’m just a fan of hers. And, I want to guide people to good resources to continue walking. Bad weather and dark of night are no longer excuses (as they once were for me). And now, they’re free!
